Well I am going back to the valley after Melody's lunch at 1:00. I have enjoyed spending some time with her and the girls. It has been beautiful weather here. I started going through her cookbooks and getting some new recipes to try. Sunday she made some interesting and good sour cream chicken enchilidas. For someone who doesn't cook or even likes to she has a lot of cookbooks. Friday I made a new recipe "Fruited Chicken Salad. I really liked it. It was refreshing on a hot day. I will have to make it when I get my own place.
I need to get things lined up since I got rid of almost everything when I moved from Tennessee. When I moved I got rid of a lot since I only came back with a u-haul trailer. I do now have a mattress and box springs. I did bring back my headboard and footboard and frame.
I am excited to have my own place and have friends over to try some of the new recipes I plan on trying. I am also looking forward to once again to trying more in the mixology of making different kinds of drinks. I am diffenently interested in learning to infuse alchol with herbs and fruit to have different ones. If anyone has any drink or infusion recipes I would love to share with you. I understand cucumbers are interesting in drinks so I guess I need to google and see if I can find some recipes to try. I would appreciate any and all suggestions. I want to help my friend Tom to get his coffee, chocolate, peanut butter drink created.
I have a friend who is a vegetarian and so if anyone has good recipes I need some since Larry was a meat and potatoes man. When I made the pasta with hot sausage for some friends I made the sauce without the meat and put some aside and than added the sausage. But it is hard to make a recipe where meat is the main ingredient.
Well I need to get my stuff packed to leave this afternoon. Melody charged up her IPad to let me play with it this morning before I leave so looking forward to it. I love the games and all the cool things you can do on it. I need to save up to get me one. I know Larry would alreay have had one. I didn't think I would want one because I have a laptop but guess what I was wrong I do want one. So now I need to save pennies so I can get one.
Hope you all have a great day. I will write again in a few days. This has been very helpful for me to put my feelings and thoughts down and to hear from all my friends. I am anxious to play pogo again (Word Riot in particular), and be on facebook more again. I haven't played facebook games much lately so facebook friends be ready once I settle into my new place I will be back!
Love you all

Going on with life
Well I finally found an apartment. I get to move in the first week of September. It is close to Clackamas Town Center. The puppies and I are excited about having a place for a year. As you all know I have moved in the past year three times. First I moved to Tennessee to live with Greg, my son, but that didn’t work out so I moved into an apartment in Englewood, Tennessee. I moved back to Oregon the last of May. I have been living with some friends in Canby, Oregon. I am very excited I just got the word I was approved Friday afternoon.
I am currently visiting my daughter, Melody in Central Oregon. I came over Thursday and going home Tuesday. I came over as Sarah was doing what was called her farewell concert. Kaity, Melody’s youngest daughter sang harmony. They are very talented. I always told Sarah she had an old soul. She has always loved the kind of music her grandpa and I liked and enjoyed listening to. She likes jazz; one of her idols she revealed Friday night was Barbara Streisand. She sang People and it was beautiful. It brought tears to my eyes. Larry would be as proud of her as I am. One day I will be able to say to the person next to me at a concert, Broadway show or movie the star is my granddaughter. Sarah, you go blow them all away. She also as does Kaity write some of her own music. Friday night she sang two songs she had written.
Friday as everyone here was working I met with some of mine and Larry’s longtime friends that now live in Redmond, Oregon. They were our neighbors 30 years ago when we came back to Oregon. If you ever met them you couldn’t forget them. I could hear George before I ever saw him. He is always laughing and has a laugh heard above all else. We spent 2 hours at the Sister’s Coffee House, which by the way has the best coffee and coffee drinks anywhere. We always had to take coffee beans home with us whenever we came to visit. Larry’s and my favorite was Black Butte Gold. But when Melody came to see me in Tennessee in April she brought a new coffee for me to try and now it is one of my favorite. The new one I like is Guatemalan. I guess the farmer in Guatemala won 2nd place in a word competition for best cup of coffee. You can order and have them ship you coffee from their website. I won’t have to do that as there is now a Sister’s Coffee Shop in the Pearl District of Portland.
Saturday we had breakfast with Helen, Steve’s mom and Kathy, his sister. We were going to go into Bend but I was very tired. I have been under a lot of stress about finding a place to liv and since I now have a place the stress was less and I relaxed and was tired so we stayed home and visited and watched movies. I laid on the couch, Melody in her dad’s recliner and we watched movies until 3 am. She had me watch 2 of the 3 Twilight movies. We had to watch the other one last night. Taz & Bandit have enjoyed as Melody, Kaity and I have taken the dogs on a long walk every evening. Kaity used her grandpas camera and took some pictures of their neighborhood which I am going to put on Facebook so you can all she the area she lives in. It is a beautiful housing division. Of course the Sisters Mountains help the scenery.
One of the things my friend, Caroline has gotten me back into is the love of cooking. I have tried lots of new recipes since coming back. They all so far have been keepers. Father’s day she fixed great pasta, a salad with marinated onions and mangos and sweet wine honey roasted pears. I tried a new meatloaf recipe. At Melody’s I made a fruited chicken salad which I enjoyed very much. Melody made a great chicken enchilada that wasn’t very spicy that was very good. If you have a favorite recipe you think I should try e-mail it or leave it in the comments and I will give it a try. Oh I forgot I cooked a roast in a crock pot all day in garlic, onion, wine and cognac that was delicious. If you want any recipes leave a comment and your e-mail address and I will e-mail it.
I will try to update this every couple of days. Sorry I have had a hard year and didn’t really have my heart into blogging the first try but I am trying with a lot of peoples support and encouragement to go on with my life as they all fell I still have things to offer and am worth not giving up on life. As they all pointed out Larry fought very hard to stay with me and he wouldn’t want me to give up because he wasn’t a quitter. I love and appreciate all my family and friends who feel I am worth them fighting me to keep me going.
One more thought and then I will give you a rest for a few days and go do some fun adventures to write about on this blog. I am trying to use a walker and walk some. Saturday I walked from the van to Melody’s house and have used it around her home. Since I haven’t really walked much for 3 years I am taking it slow as what I have done so far has made my body hurt but as my granddaughters and daughter keep telling me no pain no gain.
Love you all and thanks so much for you love and support.

Enjoying the freedom the lift has given me.
I have been really enjoying the freedom I have now that I have the lift. Last night I met a friend for Happy Hour at BJ Willy's and than we went to have a drink at West Linn Saloon. Larry and I spent a lot of time there before he got sick. I got to see some more friends and some of them didn't know he had died. It was great seeing all those people and talking to them. I let them all know that I am moving to Tennessee in September to live with Greg, Jennifer and Tyler. They said I need to make sure I come in a couple of more times before I leave. I got the phone numbers of some of them and gave them mine so we can keep in touch even when I am in Tennessee.
Yesterday I talked to a couple of my co-workers at Ash Creek. I hope to see some of them before I leave for dinner. I don't missing working just seeing the people and the interaction you have with your co-workers. I have gotten my day timer out to keep track of all of my activities. I haven't needed it for the last 3 months but now that I am out and about I need to keep track of my appointments.
I received a letter yesterday that they have moved Larry as I have requested. When he died we forgot to let them know that I was handicapped and they buried him on the side of a hill, which Larry would have loved but I got get to his gravesite to put flowers so see him so I requested they move him to a wall that is handicapped assessable. Cathy and Billy are going with me to see where the new place is and take him some flowers since I didn't do that over the 4th.
I hope to start taking some pictures that I can start posting on the blog. I want to take a few trips before I leave the Oregon area. I would love to go to Victoria, BC. Larry and I always talked about it but never made it there. I also wouldn't mind going back to Leavenworth, WA, I definitely want to go to the beach a few more times.
We have finally have some nice weather. We are in the 2nd day of a 3 day heat wave. It was 95 yesterday, suppose to be 98 today and 96 tomorrow. They say we should be down to the mid 80's for the weekend and cooling to the upper 70's by Wednesday. My apartments has not gotten to warm since Tom, the maintenance man put in my window air conditioner. I set it at 72 and just leave it on.
I will write more later this weekend. Hope you all have a great weekend.

The new adventures now start
I finally have my lift in and working. It was in and fixed so I could use it last Wednesday. I didn't really start using it until last Thursday. But since than I have gone and done lots of things I haven't been able to do unless I had help. Thursday my cousin Bobbie and her husband Chuck was in town from Texas. I picked up April, my sister, at 2:00 in the afternoon and brought her to my house. We had a cocktail and waited to hear from Bobbie. We were going to meet Cathy & Billy at 6:00 to have dinner. Bobbie called at 5:00 so we picked them up at the hotel and had dinner and I didn't get home until 10:30 pm after I took April and Bobbie home. I was able to get myself home and unloaded. Friday I met Bobbie & Chuck for breakfast and she informed me they decided to have a down day that day. They were suppose to leave after breakfast, but we made arrangements for me to pick them up at 4:00 and go to the mall and meet Cathy & Billy for dinner at the Ram. After I left them I went to shopping at Target as I had a prescription to pick up. I didn't get home until 2:30 and left at 3:30 to get Bobbie. I didn't get home that evening until 10:30 pm.
Saturday I went shopping with Cathy at Fred Meyers and Costco and had dinner at Rose's and didn't get home until 5:30. Needless to say Sunday I was exhausted I have been on the go like that for a long time as at the end Larry didn't feel like doing much. So Sunday I stayed home and took naps. Today I did chores, paid rent and met my best friend Caroline and her son Jimmy to have dinner. Before I met them I decided to go to the movies so went to see Knight & Day (Tom Cruise movie). I went by myself it was great, by the way I would recommend the movie it was vintage Tom Cruise. It will be one I will want when it comes out on DVD. I enjoyed my dinner with Caroline and Jimmy very much.
I have come home, paid rent and now going to get ready to watch and movie and spend some time with my puppies. They are doing great about staying in the van when I am loading and unloading my chair but I haven't done it with them and people with me.
Now that I have my lift my social calendar is filling up. I am having happy hour with a friend, Connie Wednesday night. I friends are going to get back to me when we can get together. It is a good feeling to feel I don't have to stay home because I can't go somewhere I stay home because that is what I want to do.
I now will be writing this blog more often. I was getting very discouraged with the lift taking so long and when we got it, it was wrong and than not all the pieces where sent.
I have to thank Cathy and especially Billy for their diligence for helping me through this time with the lift. I don't know how I would have made it through this year without the support of my two sisters and their husbands. Charlene and Chuck and Cathy and Billy please know how much I love and appreciate all of your help and support through Larry's last few months and the last 3 months since his death.
I still miss him a lot and probably will for a long time. He was my best friend and the love of my life. But I have made it through because he made me a stronger and more independent person.

Lift finally on its way Yeah!!!
I received good news this morning. My lift is finally on it's way to Oregon. I should have it next week and than just need to get it installed. We received a tracking number today so I can see were it is on it's cross country trip. It left Florida yesterday evening, it was in Atlanta this morning at 4:30 and left there this afternoon on it's way to Kansas City. It will be so nice to have that than I will be more independent.
Sarah is on her way over here from Sisters. We are going to Newport Beach tomorrow morning. Cathy and Billy will join us tomorrow evening. It isn't suppose to be good weather but it will be so nice to just get out of town. There are places that Larry loved to go to that I want to share with Sarah. Like Fish Tales Restaurant for breakfast. This old fashioned hamburger joint that has the old pinball machines. The fudge shop, the aquarium in Newport, the caramel corn shop in Depoe Bay. We are taking games and movies when we have to be inside. Larry thought the beach was great when it was stormy. I am taking his camera so Sarah and I can take pictures.
I am sure the puppies will enjoy the trip. We haven't really had a trip like this since December 2008. Larry was just too sick last year to really do much. We did make it to Melody's for Thanksgiving but that was it other than 2 day trips to the beach, one with Greg & Jennifer and the other one with Rick and Paula.
Larry's favorite thing to do was get the in the van with camera, puppies and a suitcase and take off for the weekend. Sometimes we had a destination and other times we flipped a coin as to right or left and just went. We had some great times doing that. Those are all very precious memories for me. He spoiled me because I love it now and don't want to stop.
Once I have that lift I can take off with the puppies and a camera and a suitcase and let people know if I went right or left and keep in touch so they know where I am but want to go take pictures.
I talked to Melody and told her I would love to do a daughter, mother weekend. I would even let her choose where to go. Some places I suggested were Leavenworth, Washington, Seattle, somewhere on the Oregon Coast, the redwoods in California. I forgot to mention I would love to go to Victoria, BC.
Than when I go to Tennessee there will lots of new places for the puppies and I to go see and do. I have never been in the south. I want to go see Larry's brothers in Michigan. I have never been to Washington DC either. So many places to see and visit. I am very excited about my new adventures and new life.
I will update the blog this weekend and have Sarah show me how to share pictures we take.

Good Weekend
Sorry, I haven't updated this blog for awhile. It was a hard week. I still don't have my lift. They keep giving me excuses and Friday I was told it hasn't even been shipped. I have a weekend planned at the beach next weekend. I so wanted that lift that would make it easier to go. I hope they don't want an recommendation from me for their company.
I have talked to Melody and Greg this week and they both have been thinking about their dad a lot. Greg and Melody both had a sort of hard day yesterday. Greg misses talking to Larry about NASCAR and plumbing. Melody says there are so many little things that make her think about Larry. Flowers, sunshine. He loved both. I never know what is going to make me cry or think of him, a song, a movie, a sound or a smell.
I had a good day yesterday. Cathy and Billy came and loaded my chair and we went for breakfast at Shari's in Oregon City. Cathy is organizing the Relay for life in Oregon City in June and some running to do for that so Billy went home and we went shopping. Well I bought some things and than went back to her house. I bought some house plants and pots so while we sat on her patio I potted some plants (which I have never done before, Larry always did that). Than we decided to go to the cemetery to see where we want them to move Larry so that I can visit his gravesite. Where it is now I can't get there. We wanted to make sure it is handicapped assessable and it is so I need to fill out the paper work and send it back to them.
We than went for Chinese food. Cathy and I love Chinese but Billy doesn't (neither did Larry). When we were ready to leave we go out and I notice I have a flat tire. Luckily, Larry had me renew our AAA before he died, so I called and they came and changed my tire. Boy, was Billy glad as the spare is under the van and not easy to get to. That done they followed me home to unload my chair and all my treasures I bought. I did put things away and than got ready for bed and was going to watch Flick 2 but fell asleep instead.
I did watch Flick 2 this morning at about 5:30 and than fell asleep again. My puppies haven't really gotten up today. Bandit just now at 4:00 PM gotten up to go outside. Taz has been up a couple of times to see what I am up to. I did text the kids a picture of the grave marker at Larry's gravesite. It is very nice. Rick, Larry's brother called today and said that the dinner they were going to have yesterday to remember Larry was postponed until today because Roger was out of town. They are meeting tonight at 4:00 my time. That was what Larry had requested that they all get together and remember him and have a beer.
All in all this has been a good weekend, just wished I had my lift. I am very much looking forward to next weekend at Newport. My puppies will sleep for a week as they haven't been very active for about the last year and a half, me either. I think I will go to bed early and watch a movie tonight.
Hopefully after our weekend at the Beach I will have some pictures to share with you all. Hope you all have a good week.

Hard Weekend - New Week
The weekend was a hard weekend. Sunday it was a month that I lost Larry. I spent most of the day crying and watching movies (I watched at least 5 movies). It was a very hard day. I sure miss Larry. I didn't realize how much until Sunday. But it is over and a new week has started.
Yesterday I did such mundane things as washing, and cleaning house. I did some organizing of bathroom supplies (didn't get it all done but it is better). I organized my closet. I have now taken over both closets.
We have run in problems with the lift. We still don't have it. Greg, Cathy and I have all talked to them. You would think they would want to get rid of the 3 of us calling and would get us the information as to where the lift is. We have all asked for a tracking #. They say they have never had anyone ask for one before. They now say we should have it Friday no later than Monday.
Today was not a good day. First handling the situation with the lift and than my best friend called and said they found her grandson dead and her son has had a relapsed. My heart goes out to her. She and her husband have been so supportive during Larry's illness and his death. I wish I could ease her pain. I give her a great big hug.
These are not quite the adventures I had in mind but I know that life isn't always a bowl of cherries and that sometimes you run into pits. I hope we are getting the pits done now so we can now enjoy the cherries.
Not this weekend but next weekend is my trip to the beach with Cathy, Billy and Sarah. I am so ready and looking forward to it. I just hope I have the lift by than. I have plans to take Sarah to the aquarium and to a burger joint that has old fashioned pinball machines. I am looking forward to trying out Larry's camera and taking some pictures which I will share with all of you.
My daughter is having a lot of health issues of her own. She has my arthritis which is giving her lots of back problems. I wish I could help her, just not sure how. Our family is ready for some good things to happen to us. I am sure that things are going to get better for all of us.
I appreciate all of the support from my friends and family during this time. I am thinking positive that things will get better for my family. I know the bad times help make us appreciate the good times.
The puppies are great company for me. They are where ever I am. They still miss Larry but they have taken to watching over me. They have been really good about staying and not running out the door when I open it. They seem to sense I need their help by being good and obeying me.
Patta the neighbor and Chris the maintenance guy from my complex have been very helpful. Patta picks up after my dogs for me since I can't get out in the grass very easily. Chris has been there for anything I might need from unloading my chair to loading my chair and parking my van when someone else has taken my handicap parking spot.
I owe so many people for helping me during this hard time. I am not sure how I am going to repay everyone who has been helpful. I hope they all know how grateful I am for all of their support. When I get my apartment all cleaned and organized I hope to have them over for a cocktail party to thank them and let them try some of my new drink recipes.
Well I will write more later. Just know that I appreciate all of your support.
