Going on with life

Well I finally found an apartment. I get to move in the first week of September. It is close to Clackamas Town Center. The puppies and I are excited about having a place for a year. As you all know I have moved in the past year three times. First I moved to Tennessee to live with Greg, my son, but that didn’t work out so I moved into an apartment in Englewood, Tennessee. I moved back to Oregon the last of May. I have been living with some friends in Canby, Oregon. I am very excited I just got the word I was approved Friday afternoon.

I am currently visiting my daughter, Melody in Central Oregon. I came over Thursday and going home Tuesday. I came over as Sarah was doing what was called her farewell concert. Kaity, Melody’s youngest daughter sang harmony. They are very talented. I always told Sarah she had an old soul. She has always loved the kind of music her grandpa and I liked and enjoyed listening to. She likes jazz; one of her idols she revealed Friday night was Barbara Streisand. She sang People and it was beautiful. It brought tears to my eyes. Larry would be as proud of her as I am. One day I will be able to say to the person next to me at a concert, Broadway show or movie the star is my granddaughter. Sarah, you go blow them all away. She also as does Kaity write some of her own music. Friday night she sang two songs she had written.

Friday as everyone here was working I met with some of mine and Larry’s longtime friends that now live in Redmond, Oregon. They were our neighbors 30 years ago when we came back to Oregon. If you ever met them you couldn’t forget them. I could hear George before I ever saw him. He is always laughing and has a laugh heard above all else. We spent 2 hours at the Sister’s Coffee House, which by the way has the best coffee and coffee drinks anywhere. We always had to take coffee beans home with us whenever we came to visit. Larry’s and my favorite was Black Butte Gold. But when Melody came to see me in Tennessee in April she brought a new coffee for me to try and now it is one of my favorite. The new one I like is Guatemalan. I guess the farmer in Guatemala won 2nd place in a word competition for best cup of coffee. You can order and have them ship you coffee from their website. I won’t have to do that as there is now a Sister’s Coffee Shop in the Pearl District of Portland.

Saturday we had breakfast with Helen, Steve’s mom and Kathy, his sister. We were going to go into Bend but I was very tired. I have been under a lot of stress about finding a place to liv and since I now have a place the stress was less and I relaxed and was tired so we stayed home and visited and watched movies. I laid on the couch, Melody in her dad’s recliner and we watched movies until 3 am. She had me watch 2 of the 3 Twilight movies. We had to watch the other one last night. Taz & Bandit have enjoyed as Melody, Kaity and I have taken the dogs on a long walk every evening. Kaity used her grandpas camera and took some pictures of their neighborhood which I am going to put on Facebook so you can all she the area she lives in. It is a beautiful housing division. Of course the Sisters Mountains help the scenery.

One of the things my friend, Caroline has gotten me back into is the love of cooking. I have tried lots of new recipes since coming back. They all so far have been keepers. Father’s day she fixed great pasta, a salad with marinated onions and mangos and sweet wine honey roasted pears. I tried a new meatloaf recipe. At Melody’s I made a fruited chicken salad which I enjoyed very much. Melody made a great chicken enchilada that wasn’t very spicy that was very good. If you have a favorite recipe you think I should try e-mail it or leave it in the comments and I will give it a try. Oh I forgot I cooked a roast in a crock pot all day in garlic, onion, wine and cognac that was delicious. If you want any recipes leave a comment and your e-mail address and I will e-mail it.

I will try to update this every couple of days. Sorry I have had a hard year and didn’t really have my heart into blogging the first try but I am trying with a lot of peoples support and encouragement to go on with my life as they all fell I still have things to offer and am worth not giving up on life. As they all pointed out Larry fought very hard to stay with me and he wouldn’t want me to give up because he wasn’t a quitter. I love and appreciate all my family and friends who feel I am worth them fighting me to keep me going.

One more thought and then I will give you a rest for a few days and go do some fun adventures to write about on this blog. I am trying to use a walker and walk some. Saturday I walked from the van to Melody’s house and have used it around her home. Since I haven’t really walked much for 3 years I am taking it slow as what I have done so far has made my body hurt but as my granddaughters and daughter keep telling me no pain no gain.

Love you all and thanks so much for you love and support.
